Hearing crickets chirping...

Ugh, I am such a blogging slacker…
Its not that I don’t care its just that I usually don’t have anything interesting to say.

Today I am refocusing on Kim Klassen’sBeyond Beyond.

The challenge for this week is capturing our furry friends. It just so happens I am cat sitting this weekend. My daughter is out of town and I volunteered to keep Kitty Marie.  It’s a win-win, except when she (intentionally) missed the liter box this morning but that’s another story.

Kim’s challenge was to take a pet portrait. Kim gave us some great tips on photographing animals.

I took quite a few shots of Marie Antoinette.  She’s not a huge fan of the camera and is very skilled at looking away just as the shutter releases. I was persistent though and caught this image. Pretty much sums up her sassy personality.

Sorry I have neglected my blog. I am hoping to do better going forward but I just don’t see myself as a daily blogger, but maybe I can improve upon the once every two months postings.

Thanks for hanging around.

My favorite model

Just a short post today. Thought I'd give Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday a try. Of course it’s Wednesday for many of you but whose counting. This week's theme is Black and White... perhaps a touch of color. In addition we are to use at least one of Kim's textures.

I had a little photo shoot with my favorite model last week so I thought I'd mess around with converting one to black and white.

I used Kim's stamped softly texture and masked it off the baby at 50% opacity. I also used Pioneer Woman's B&W Beauty action for my conversion. I just can't seem to get a good black and white when I go it alone.

Thanks for stopping by.

Liberate Your Art

I participated in Kat Sloma's Liberate Your Art postcard swap for the third year in a row. For those of you unfamiliar with this annual event, let me give you a quick overview. It is open to all who want to participate. When you sign up Kat e-mails you the information. You are asked to submit five postcards with images of your art, postage and return address labels. Once the deadline has passed Kat begins “swapping” the postcards. She sends them out in various mailings. In the end you receive five postcards from random participants and one card from Kat.

This is the postcard I submitted this year:

The swap has its own Facebook page and when participants start receiving cards they photograph them and link the photos to the page. Its great fun! The Facebook page is a great way to see cards you may not receive; in addition Kat puts together a video available to all participants that includes a shot of each and every card.

This year three recipients of my postcard contacted me. The swap is a great way to meet new online friends who have a common interest. It is also a fantastic way to see all kinds of different art. You never know, you may get a postcard that prompts you to try something new or seek out a new image to capture.
