I
participated in Kat Sloma's Liberate Your Art postcard swap for the third year
in a row. For those of you unfamiliar with this annual event, let me give
you a quick overview. It is open to all who want to participate. When you sign
up Kat e-mails you the information. You are asked to submit five postcards with
images of your art, postage and return address labels. Once the deadline has
passed Kat begins “swapping” the postcards. She sends them out in various
mailings. In the end you receive five postcards from random participants and
one card from Kat.
The swap
has its own Facebook page and when participants start receiving cards they
photograph them and link the photos to the page. Its great fun! The Facebook
page is a great way to see cards you may not receive; in addition Kat puts
together a video available to all participants that includes a shot of each and
every card.
This year
three recipients of my postcard contacted me. The swap is a great way to meet
new online friends who have a common interest. It is also a fantastic way to
see all kinds of different art. You never know, you may get a postcard that
prompts you to try something new or seek out a new image to capture.

If
you found your way here from the Liberate Your Art blog hop, thanks. I am so
happy you stopped by. Now on to your next stop...
(In
case you are interested, I display my postcards using the magnetic photo ropes
from Photojojo).
okay - well now 4 of your recipients have contacted you! sorry - I am a procrastinator! This is my second year and, as with last year, someone I received a card from also received one of the same cards I did too. I also have the paradise postcard from Amanda. It is a small world. I love your card and shall treasure it as with the others over both swaps!
ReplyDeletecheers, dana
Such a beautiful post card you sent out! And I love what you received in return. I've only heard from one person who received my card so I'm hoping I can find out through the hop where the other 4 landed!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous set and a great swap. Loving seeing all the beautiful artwork out there. :)
ReplyDeleteI must say your card was stunning, it really stood out in the video to me. Excellent job! You received some lovely cards in return I see you got a Shirina original, she is such a sweet lady hope you guys can connect if you haven't already!
ReplyDeleteCindy, your card is gorgeous! I love the color, the focus, and the quote. I'd say hearing from three out of five is a good response this year. So far I haven't found where any of mine ended up.
ReplyDeleteyou're so fortunate that 4 people contacted you (who received your postcard)! No one has contacted me so far so I really hope even one or two might do so during the blog hop. I don't do Facebook so I wasn't able to see the cards there -- I'm sure enjoying the blog hop!
ReplyDeleteNice post. The swap was such fun and now seeing and reading how and where the the art was received is a treat.
ReplyDeleteYour postcard is beautiful! It reminds me of Georgia O'Keefe, and how she got us all to really look at flowers. The curly stamen is so cool!
ReplyDeleteOf the ones you received, my fav is the field of sunflowers. I love the grungy patina that makes it look like an old photo.
Oh my gosh...the postcard you shared is beautiful! I love it! What wonderful work. This is my first year participating and I would do so many things differently...I can't wait until next time. And the cards your received...priceless!
ReplyDeleteGosh, the card you sent is glorious! Wish I had received one. Your received ones are also beautiful...all the cards I've seen are. I have those magnetic ropes from pjj, too, but my cats prohibit me from actually using them unless I want everything on them mangled.
ReplyDeleteHi, and I just realized you're another AZ blogger like me so I'm adding you to my AZ Bloggers blogroll. I love "meeting" fellow Arizonans online. I can't post to your blog using my own url--I sometimes have that problem on Blogger. My blog is: http://maccandace.wordpress.com.
ReplyDeleteI loved your postcard this year, Cindy! So great to have you for the third year in a row!! And now that I've met you, it's even better knowing the person behind the art.
ReplyDeletewhat beautiful photographs!
